According to Jacinta Njeri, Nderitu’s mother, the humble and obedient boy worked hard so that ‘he could take me out of poverty’.

He however met his death in a grisly road accident at Nakuru on December 1 as he walked to ask for permission from his father to undergo initiation.

The father lives with a second wife away from home.He was in the company of his two siblings, a brother and a sister. The two also died out of injuries inflicted.

According to residents, the three children were walking when a driver of a saloon car lost control and mowed them to the ground.

Nderitu died on the spot while the other two succumbed at the Nakuru PGH.

At their home in Nakuru, tears roll down Njeri’s cheeks as it is too painful to imagine that she will never see her three children again.

For Nderitu, all his dreams of excelling in life to take his mum out of poverty and educate his siblings in a good school were shattered.
