Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has vowed to issue a statement in parliament seeking investigation into an incident in which street children were arrested in Nakuru town and later found dumped in a forest in Baringo.
Speaking at Jomec Rehabilitation centre on Monday after visiting and donating foodstuffs to the street children, the vocal Jubilee legislator said investigations should be carried out and those behind the act arrested and charged.
The legislator commended former Naivasha MP John Mututho for receiving the children.
“We want this matter investigated and the culprits brought to book.Personally I will be issuing a statement in parliament so that we can know who was behind this matter,” said Ngunjiri.
Jomec Rehabilitation Centre director John Mututho called on well-wishers to support the children.
“These are our children and we need to help them. I want to call on every well-wisher in society to come out and support these children who had been dumped in a forest,”said Mututho.
The more than 40 children were found at Torongo forest on Thursday February 7 2019 after they were rounded up from Nakuru streets on Wednesday night.
The issue caused a storm in Nakuru's social media platforms as it appeared that the move was part of the county's 'attempt to get rid of street families from Nakuru town'.
