Msupa S is definitely one of the Kalenjin artists who trend most in 2018.
From a naive Kalenjin girl singing vernacular songs to a well respected rapper in the Kenyan music industry who even performed on Jamhuri day celebrations, she is definitely a motivation and role model to the upcoming rappers. She has appeared on top TV shows like 10 over 10, The Trend among others.
Apart from having a huge fan base in Eldoret, the rapper seems to have many youths who are looking up to her. Surprisingly though is the fact that a good number of the young lads in Eldoret look up to her not just as a role model but also as an idol.
"Most of the people look up to international artists and celebrities but for me I prefer to look up to someone I can relate with, someone I have seen rising to the top. That is the reason why Msupa S will be my all time idol, because I have seen her rise from these streets of Eldoret to the top," Victor Yegon, an upcoming rapper from Eldoret town, said.
It is not just her success in music that makes her an idol and a role model, but also some of the life skills she has exuded in her struggle to the top.
"She might not look like it, but trust me Msupa S carries the strength of a woman. She has taken a lot especially insults because of her naivety. But at the end of the day she still manages to come out as one of the best upcoming artists. Her story right from the day social media made fun of her up to date, is a strong motivation to the young ladies," Edith Wainaina, a third year student at Moi University, stated.
Msupa S is enough proof to show that what most of the young artists lack is support from the big names in the industry.
For her, she gives credit to Khaligraph for holding her hand.
"We as the young artists do not have is support. Msupa S was lucky to have Khaligraph on her first collabo. So I would really love to see her come back to Eldoret and support us because most us really want to be where she is and we have everything that it takes," David Maina, a singer and student at Alphax college in Eldoret, said.
Will Msupa S continue trending in 2019? Only time will tell.
