Speaking in an interview with K24's Betty Kyallo shared on YouTube, Friday, Mbugua noted that she planned for her finances six months earlier before she quit.

She quit Citizen TV about two years ago when her media career was arguably at its pick

"For six months, I put my finances in order, I made sure I had projects that even when I step out ofTV they are still sustaining me, and I made sure there were projects that could sustain me for two years, I really planned," said Mbugua

She revealed that the main reason why she had to resign from her job was to have enough time with her firstborn son, Huru, who was then getting used to their house girl more than to her.

She recalled when he refused to be hugged by her as something that changed her mind.

"I was going through a lot of burns out for 10 years. I did not really have a relationship with Huru. I did the obvious but the nanny did most of it. Here is a time I moved in to hug him and he did this (moved away) he was more familiar with her (house girl)," Mbugua said.
