On Sunday, the former Finance Cabinet Minister called for quick action against the vice, adding that it is further plunging the nation into poverty.

He now wants two Cabinet Secretaries sacked over the billions of shillings lost to n Italian company tendered to construct three major water dams in the country.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mudavadi called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Water and Treasury CSs; Simon Chelugui and Henry Rotich with immediate effect.

"For the start, the Cabinet Secretaries for Treasury and Water and officers associated with this matter, including the CEO of Kerio Valley Development Authority, must now go," reads the statement in part.

The projects in question are the Itare Dam Project in Nakuru (40 billion), Kimwarer Dam Project in Elgeyo Marakwet (28 billion) and Arror Multi-Purpose Dam Project also in Elgeyo Marakwet (38 billion).

All the tenders to deliver the projects were awarded to the CMC di Ravenna which has however been declared bankrupt and unable to deliver.

But Mudavadi now claims that the tender was deliberate and was given with the sole aim of defrauding Kenyans of their public coffers.

"Its increasingly emerging that these so-called projects were deliberately conceived to be phantom assignments for the express purpose of stealing," the statement reads.
