Former Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala has commented on Governor Alfred Mutua’s landmark win at the Supreme Court.
Kiala said it is now time for Mutua's administration to focus on service delivery.
He urged Mutua and other leaders in the county to work together to ensure that the region is developed.
“It is now clear that the question of who is the governor of Machakos has been settled. This gives the people of Machakos an opportunity to focus all their energies on matters development,” Kiala said.
While delivering his ruling on Friday, Chief Justice David Maraga said the Court of Appeal did not strictly examine the Machakos gubernatorial results before nullifying Mutua’s win.
The Apex Court declared that the second term governor was validly elected.
The verdict shows that the governor’s win reflects the will of the people of Machakos.
The court's outcome puts Mutua in good position as he seeks to become Kenya’s next President.
Mutua said he is ready to work with former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti, who has remained defiant that he doesn’t deserve the post despite the ruling from the top court in the land.
