Police in Kasarani are probing a suspected carjacking ring at the Thika Road Mall (TRM) and its environs.

The officers on Tuesday arrested two suspects linked to the illegal business after a tip off from the members of the public on the same.

 The suspects are reportedly often posing as gym members to commit the heinous acts. The suspects have been stealing car keys at the mall after posing as gym members and then drive away. 

The activities have been rampant in changing rooms where they steal the keys to enable them access the cars of different owners. OCPD Kasarani Peter Kimani has confirmed the arrest of the suspects, saying that the police have embarked on the probe into the matter. 

He also asked the general public to remain supportive to the police in their quest to unmask the faces behind the theft of the cars as probe gains momentum.  

“One of the suspects tried to drive out of TRM but could not produce the parking chip coin. The guards alerted the police and the vehicle was recovered,” Kimani said, as quoted Citizen Digital.

The police found a bunch of car keys during the crackdown, which they believe is being used to steal cars at the mall.The detectives also recovered a vehicle with registration No. KCU 277C at Ngumba estate on Thika Road, which is believed to have been stolen from the same mall by the suspects in question.
