Momanyi said it's wrong for the leaders to start early campaigns and propagandas when they could work for their electorates. He said it was time residents realized development as election period was far from near.

“This is not the time to say that I have been endorsed by the current regime to run for the 2022 gubernatorial seat, we should desist from this cheap politics and propaganda and instead works for our people until that time elections come," argued Momanyi.

"We should not do politics year in year out because then we are being insincere to our electorates who have given us the mandate to work for them,” he said.

The visibly agitated legislature affirmed that he needed no endorsement from any politician for him to be Nyamira’s second governor. Instead, he said he needed the will of the people to sail through to the helm of the coveted county seat.

“Governor Nyagarama (John) has not endorsed me and I don’t remember anywhere he has declared his support for me in 2022 and if he does that is his right. I need the hand and will of the people in order to be the next governor.

"The electorates will chose who take over the mantle from him (Nyagarama). You cannot impose a leader to residents. Those who have developed ‘butterflies’ in their stomachs over my presence for the county politics should brace for a real battle and am certain I will floor them and carry the day. For now let’s work for our people,” he said.

He urged all the elected leaders in the county to come and work together for the people irrespective of party affiliations in the spirit of the handshake.

Momanyi was speaking in his Constituency recently where he handed a bus to Manga P.A.G Girls School in Esise Ward. He is among those tipped to be at pole position to take over from Nyagarama.
