While speaking on a local radio station, the senator who did not speak much during the launch of the pilot project in Kisumu said that there are still too many loopholes into the project that was to be addressed before the roll-up of the universal healthcare coverage.

Together with Governor Anyang Nyong’o, he had sat with the health Cabinet secretary Cecily Kariuki and presented their reservations and that if it was rolled up before the issues were looked into it would be one of the biggest embarrassments to the president.

He used Kisumu County as an example, saying that being one of the pilot counties for the programme, is understaffed in terms of medical personnel and the same people are expected to treat patients for free which is going to be hectic to them.

“Improving on bed capacities without looking into the workforce will not solve the problem in the health care sector, if patients are still being sent to the counter to buy essential drugs like paracetamol because the county has not yet paid KEMSA close to 78 million for medical supplies and you still expect the citizens to get drugs for free from the hospitals, these are some of the hindrances that the national government ought to have anticipated and come up with remedies for them,” he said.

The senator also came up against the county boss on the issues of environment stating that the county only cleans major highways more so the route leading to Kisumu Airport up to Kachok for visitors to see and have neglected market areas and other areas of big concern.

Kachok dumpsite that became one of the platforms that the current governor rode on for his election found its way again as Mr Outa read corruption malice on the relocation of the site which has consumed close to 200 million at it the second face.
