Kilifi County members of County Assembly want Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to take disciplinary measures against members of the national assembly who betrayed the party by supporting Jubilee.
The MCAs said it was wrong for the rebel MPs who are supposed to deliver their mandate to the people after being elected to power abandon their party and begin campaigning for Deputy President William Ruto.
Currently, they said MPs, particularly in Kilifi who were p elected under ODM, are busy following Ruto while locals suffer.
Kakuyuni ward MCA Nixon Muramba said the ODM secretary general should discipline the MPS who were supporting Ruto.
“Everybody elected has a five-year mandate to serve their people, the MPs have joined Jubilee, they are the same who told Mung’aro to resign,’’ he said.
He told ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna and Party leader Raila Odinga to take action against the rebels as those who are betraying the party could not be in the positions without the party.
Other MPs from Kwale, Mombasa, Tanariver, and Lamu have also openly endorsed the DP for president in 2022 and always accompany him when he comes to the region.
Deputy Speaker of County assembly Stanley Kenga who led the over 26 MCAs in a press conference said as MCAs they are still in ODM and as leaders will consult and decide which way to go when the time comes.
“We support the cooperation between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta because it brought peace, it’s not right for people to start campaigning, we have not sat down with the MPS to decide which way to go,’’ he said.
Last month the ODM party said they would not take action against Jumwa as the action was supposed to be done by the party’s branch in Malindi.
