A section of youths in Eldoret town has commended the National Agency for the Campaign against Drug Abuse (NACADA) after it came to the rescue of a secondary school girl who was filmed drunk last Thursday.
This is after NACADA director Vincent Muasya alias Chipukeezy visited the girl on Saturday.
A video of the girl while dead drunk went viral on various social media platforms and the move by the comedian who is also the NACADA director has not gone unnoticed among the youths in Eldoret.
Some of the youths are now demanding for more government officials to follow in his footsteps of Chipukeezy.
"That was a very wise move that Chipukeezy made. Instead of taking to the media to politicize the issue he went personally to assist the girl. That is responsible leadership and service to the common 'mwananchi'," Victor Namanga a young entrepreneur based at Moi University stated.
Lillian Chemutai from Kesses believes that Chipukeezy is now enough proof that government needs to employ more youths.
"It is only the youths who will understand what their fellow youths are going through. Chipukeezy went to visit the girl because he understands what she was going through as a teenager. The government should, therefore, employ more youths in such positions," Chemutai noted.
According to Roselyn Namachanja, a student at Moi University, what Chipukeezy did was a perfect way of transforming lives.
"There is no other better way a government official can change the life of a needy citizen other than being involved directly. Thanks to him at least the girl may now have a future. Politicians should learn something from him," Namachanja said.
During the visit, Chipukeezy promised that would offer mentorship to the young girl and see to it that she changes.
