According to TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia, the commission has embarked on reviewing the terms after deliberation with different stakeholders.

She thanked the teachers for their feedback after the issue became a subject of great concern. Macharia also said that the positions will be re-advertised after the commission reviews the matter.

Kuppet had asked the commission to change its tune over the requirement.

According to Kuppet Secretary-General Akelo Misori, the requirement is not only insensible but also unrealistic.

Misori argued that teachers should have been consulted to a wide extent before the condition was set.

Macharia, however, said that she is impressed with the fact that teachers have undergone training to ensure that they are better-placed to share their skills with the learners.

“The commission commends such teachers for the initiative of obtaining new skills and knowledge. The teaching service, being the foundation of knowledge acquisition, requires its members to go beyond the minimum requirements in terms of training," she said in a statement.

She added that TSC will continue supporting government projects in different areas.
