Keroka Traffic Base commander Abigael Menjo has warned that underage male bodaboda riders will be arrested.
Menjo, while speaking in Keroka town on Wednesday said during the August holiday, school-going children should not be allowed to operate as bodaboda riders.
"I will not condone underage boys to operate as bodaboda riders. I have ordered police officers manning roadblocks to arrest underage riders for the sake of curbing unnecessary road accidents," She noted.
She said once the underage riders are arrested, they will identify the people who gave them the motorbikes to ride.
Menjo appealed to bodaboda chairmen across all the bodaboda stages to ensure no underage rider is allowed to ferry customers.
"Residents should stop giving school children motorbikes to ride and in return expect to get money in the evening. Students who are on holiday must stay at home during the August holiday as they wait for schools to be re-opened for third term," she opined.
Menjo further warned parents against allowing their children to venture into bodaboda business.
Masaba North bodaboda chairman Dominic Babu in a quick rejoinder assured that underage bodaboda riders will be flushed out of the roads.
