Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has hit out at Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji over remarks on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce report.
Announcing that the BBI report was complete and ready to be handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, Haji, the chairman of the task force that compiled the document, said they were hopeful it will help the duo to accomplish their agenda for the nation.
“The secretariat completed all the editorial work on Friday and we are good to go. The team is proud of what it has accomplished and we hope that the report will help the President and the former Prime Minister (Raila Odinga) achieve the vision they have for the country,” Haji said as quoted by the Sunday Nation.
Abdullahi scorned off at the remarks, saying they meant the whole thing about BBI was centred and revolved about benefiting two individuals at the expense of others.
"So it's just about Uhuru and Raila moulding Kenya to "their vision"?...How insulting and patronising can the political elites/class be?" the lawyer posed in a tweet.
The BBI team was formed following the March 2018 handshake between the President and the former Prime Minister and was mandated to seek long-standing problems facing the country.
Veteran journalist and political commentator Macharia Gaitho recently warned the team against coming up with a report aimed at profiting the two political bigwigs.
"The BBI task force should therefore keep in mind that a solution to the ethnic antagonism and violent politics demands more than accommodation between two protagonists," Gaitho said in an opinion piece published by Daily Nation.
