Floods have wreaked havoc in Lamu following a heavy downpour.
Most of the roads in the county have been rendered impassable because of the heavy rains pounding the area.
Bodhai-Junction, which lies on the border of Garissa and Lamu counties is considered one of the most affected areas following the floods.
Other areas that have experienced massive floods are Pandanguo and Chalaluma.
The floods have caused rivers across the county to burst their banks sending the waters to farms in various villages.
The residents of the affected areas are also pleading for food and financial aid after the floods. Hussein Ajo, a resident of the area, told the Media that life has become unbearable for the residents because of the heavy downpour.
“We are suffering here. No one can come to our village and no one can leave. Our biggest problem is food and medication. Since the floods washed away our roads and bridges, the movement here is a nightmare. The daring ones have to swim across, which is very dangerous as one can drown,” said Ajio.
The residents have also decried their inability to access health facilities to get medication at the end of the day.
The government has since pledged to address the different issues facing the residents of the areas affected by the floods.
