Deputy President William Ruto has finally broken his silence on ongoing national debate about the debt that Mt. Kenya region owe him.

In a video shared on social media, Mr Ruto said that no community had anyone's debt and that the only debt that Kenyans had was to show love to one another.

The video which has gone viral and comes amid speculation that the DP may not receive votes from Central Kenya come 2022.

Here is what the residents of Garissa had to say about the development:

''I love the way the Deputy President has reacted. He acted like a leader of national stature,'' Guyo Salman said.

''No community has anyone's debt. It is great that Ruto has broken his silence,'' Jemima Khalif said.

''Talk about communities having debts have caused this country great pain. It should be discouraged,'' Burale Ahmed said.

''He is coming to terms with the fact that he may not receive support in that region. He should start looking for votes from other regions,'' Galgalo Halawe.

''That was good from the Deputy President. Very commendable,'' Sadi Abdullahi said.
