The pregnancy period is a sensitive time for women. You will have to be keen on many issues from doctor visits to what you eat. You should avoid drinking these beverages while pregnant.
1. Unpasteurized milk
Milk is good for your health. However, a pregnant woman should avoid raw (unpasteurized) milk. Raw milk can be a source of bacteria that can make you sick. In unfortunate cases, this can cause a miscarriage. This danger makes pasteurization a safety measure.
2. Fresh-squeezed juices
Eating plenty of fruits is one of the healthiest ways one can choose to live. Their great taste and nutrient content can tempt you to start drinking fresh-squeezed juices in anticipation of delivering a healthy baby. This is discouraged because such juices can easily be contaminated with bacteria. It is recommended that you only drink pasteurized juices.
Some tap/bottled water
Depending on where you live, tap and bottled water might not be good for you while pregnant. For those of you who live in houses whose water supply is via the old lead pipes, your tap water should be tested before you start drinking it. Some bottled water also contain lead that can cause low birth weight, delays in development and preterm delivery.
