Former presidential candidate and renowned scholar Prof James Ole Kiyiapi on Monday evening called on Kenyans not to be afraid of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

In a tweet, Ole Kiyiapi noted that it will be great if people read it first before making conclusions.

''Don't be afraid of the BBI Report, be afraid of you, what will do. Do you support or not support? That is the question. As for me, I shall read first and embrace if better than what we have or otherwise point out caveats!'' said Ole Kiyiapi.

His sentiments came just hours before the BBI taskforce presented the report to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

The BBI report is expected to be presented to the two leaders on Tuesday, then it is set to be released to Kenyans on Wednesday for them to read it and know what it entails.

Previously on twitter, Ole Kiyiapi had asked leaders to pick a feat instead of fighting over the BBI report that was yet to be publicized. He called upon leaders to build consensus on the way forward driven by a patriotic intent or fight it out at a referendum.

"Politicians have two options on BBI. They can carry the people along and build consensus on the way forward driven by a patriotic intent or we fight it out at a referendum. Spinning it to suit a certain political direction will not work. Let us READ, stop presence and take sides," he said

However, despite the fact that no one has been told its details, various leaders have already made judgements and faulted the report. With President Kenyatta coming out strongly to condemn those faulting what they have not read.

He instead asked leaders to wait until the report is out, read it before making their judgement.

The BBI was built in support of the handshake between Uhuru and Raila for the sake of peace and unity in the country after the 2017 General Elections and the repeat elections.

Meanwhile, Kenyans await the details of the BBI.
