The president Uhuru Kenyatta-led party has been seen disintegrating lately thanks to internal wrangles and a widening rift between Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto.

Speaking on Sunday, Sonko, a member of the party, said that its indeed on the verge of death, but blamed the same on party members and not some of the persons being blamed.

He opined that far from claims from some members that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is to blame, the blame should be heaped on party members.

"Yes in away. Jubilee members are to blame," he said on K24's Punchline show, in response to Anne Kiguta's query if the former Prime Minister is the culprit.

And with Raila's truce with Uhuru in 2018 is listed as the cause for the disintegration by forces allied to Ruto, Sonko said that on the contrary, the handshake has been beneficial.

He stressed on the need for politicians to place aside and rally behind the two in their pursuit for national peace and cohesion, terming himself a fan if the handshake for now.

"I will support the handshake for now. I will support the BBI... I am a big supporter of the Deputy President. The handshake has brought peace to this country. We must put aside our political differences and support the President," he added.

Ruto's allies have been fighting the handshake, claiming that Raila is using it to pull Uhuru out of his initial promise to endorse Ruto s his successor in 2022.
