Several candidates who performed arguably dismally during the KCPE examinations in 2015 are among the candidates who registered impressive results in KCSE examinations released on Wednesday by Education CS Prof George Magoha.
Magoha described the students as the heroes and heroines that should be celebrated more.
"We analysed these students and they are the heroes of today. Our analysis showed us that a scorer of as little as 177 marks did so well and that is the president's wish," he said as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke
Some of the key performers who did not impress in their KCPE but performed well in 2019 KCSE included:
1. Kinyua Milka Wanjiru
She sat her KCPE exams in 2015 and managed to get only 179 marks. She, however, managed to take home a B- (minus) when she sat her 2019 KCSE exams at Gathara Secondary School.
2. Munyoki Mwikali
She sat her KCSE exams at Mama Malia Secondary School and also managed a B- (minus), after having only scored 199 marks in 2015 KCPE.
3. Sharon Chepkoech
Sharon managed to sit her KCSE exams at Zaire Secondary School and managed to score a C+, which is a direct entry to university. She had scored 183 marks out of possible 500 in KCPE.
4 Joseph Mwangi
He scored 93 marks in KCPE 2015 but in KCSE, he managed to score a C+.
5. Mbugua Macharia of Kiambaa Mixed Secondary School
He scored a C+ in his KCSE 2019 after having scored a total of 200 marks in KCPE 2015.
Another candidate who shocked the CS was Muchai Gachie who had only scored 277 marks in KCPE but ended up scoring an A-(minus) from Nyakiambi Secondary School.
