Nine people are nursing serious gun wounds at Nakuru Level 5 Hospital after they were accosted by unknown people in Kapedo area in Turkana.

According to the facility’s Medical superintendent Dr. Joseph Mburu, the patients who are all male are in a fair stable condition safe for one who has a bullet lodged in his chest.

He said that some of them have been taken to the theatre to clean the gunshot wounds as the critical patient is expected to be operated any time.

Addressing media at the facility on Tuesday morning, Dr Mburu said that the patients were referred from Kapedo sub-county hospital at 3 am.

"According to the history of the patients, they were working on a bridge and as they were being taken back in a police vehicle, they were ambushed by unknown assailants who fled away from the scene," he added.

Baringo county police commander Robinson Ndiwa in a phone call said that the victims were attacked in Kapedo area of Turkana.
