Days after Nakumatt FC retained their position in the Kenya Premier League after edging out Ushuru FC in a 3 - 0 aggregate in a play-off, it is now emerging that the team will change its name and at the same time shift its base.

The rebranding will be done under the auspices of the new Nakumatt FC owner and the former Embakasi East MP aspirant, Francis Mureithi, who contested the seat on a Jubilee ticket and lost it to ODM's Babu Owino.

"Plans are in advance to rename the team and shift base before the start of the new season," said Mureithi, who bought the club from the Nakumatt Holdings Limited on April, this year.

Francis Mureithi, a 30-year-old, is a businessman and has been funding the team ever since he took over as chairman.

He has further noted that once the new changes take effect, the team will be able to attract sponsors.

In addition, he added that there are a number of sponsors ready to come and support the team and that they will recruit players to beef up the team's ability to cope up with the competition in the top flight league.
