Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has dismissed claims that he is at war with his political rival former Kathiani legislator Wavinya Ndeti.
Speaking on Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) on Wednesday night, Mutua said he has much respect for Wavinya Ndeti.
"We are not enemies as people have made it look and I have so much respect for her," he said.
The Machakos Governor said that he is engaging all leaders in championing the county's development.
Governor Mutua and Wavinya Ndeti have a long history of the political rivalry. Ndeti has often criticised Mutua's leadership accusing him of failing to spearhead development.
The former Kathiani MP unsuccessfully contested the Machakos governor seat in 2013 and 2017 general election.
As Mutua serves his final term in office, Ndeti is among top politicians who are likely to succeed him.
The county boss is yet to hint on his possible successor but there is speculation he could endorse Senator Boniface Kabaka or his deputy Francis Maliti.
Other top politicians likely to contest for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2022 are MPs Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Robert Mbui (Kathiani) and Machakos Town's Victor Munyaka.
Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama is also likely to vie for the seat.
