This, the governor says, is because of Ruto's tangible development record.

Speaking during a visit to Kacheliba, after attending a fundraiser with the DP in Kapchikar, West Pokot county, the governor elected on a KANU ticket noted that the electorate would gauge leaders based on what development they had brought to them, adding that the Deputy President fits the description of development conscious leader.

"When you come to us looking for votes, we will first assess and acknowledge the development you have brought to us. We will then give you a tick (okay) for what you have achieved. If you have done nothing, then we will tell you to go and stay with your mother," Lonyangapuo said.

He further praised the Jubilee administration led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy for accomplishing a good number of development initiatives in the county, among them the construction of roads.

The governor noted that massive roads upgrade was going on, including, the one from Kainuk to Lodwar.

"There are roads in West Pokot which have been upgraded to bitumen standards, in fact, I used one today. Who constructed them? It is the president and his deputy. So there you have scored it," the governor told the DP.

Prof. Lonyangapuo further warned politicians of useless politics and empty rhetoric, saying that the citizenry had become wise.
