The rowdy students made entry to the compound chanting justice songs, attracting the attention of Mr. Kaluma, who allowed them to express their condolences.

"The journey to fight for justice over Sharon Otieno's murder has just started," he said.

Mr. Kaluma is the family lawyer and has asked the court to deny bail three suspects including Governor Okoth Obado it Migori ahead of Wednesday's ruling.

The students chanted 'rest in peace, rest in power slogans' as the funeral came momentarily into stand still.

Student leader Evans Baraza, while addressing mourners, insisted that Ms. Otieno must get justice expeditiously, remarks which were backed by Sharon's mother, Melida Auma.

"This is a big loss. Let the perpetrators face justice. You cannot kill someone who had people expecting a lot from her. This injustice must be addressed through this death."

Governor Obado, even though he conceded being in a relationship with Sharon and even impregnating her, he denied a role in her death.
