As the push to have the constitutional amendment in the country continues to raise heated debate and ideological differences, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has clarified why Deputy President William Ruto is at loggerheads with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during Milele FM's interview, Sifuna said DP Ruto is afraid of questioning President Uhuru Kenyatta over the proposed constitutional changes.
He also said that Ruto has forgotten that the handshake was between Raila and Uhuru and therefore, the attacks on the constitutional changes should also be directed to the president.
"Hasira tunazoziona ambazo zikitoka kwa mheshimiwa naibu wa rais na wendani wake, hasira hizo zinaelekezewa mheshimiwa Raila Odinga lakini tunajua uchungu alionao ni kwa mheshimiwa Uhuru Kenyatta kwa sababu ameshindwa kuuliza mdosi wake maswali haya sasa cheche anarushia Mweshimiwa Raila Odinga. Anasahau kwamba handshake ilikuwa kati ya watu wawili (The Deputy President and his allies are directing their anger to Raila Odinga yet we know that he is bitter with Uhuru Kenyatta because he has not been able to ask him about these questions. He is, therefore, throwing blames on Raila Odinga. He is forgetting that the handshake was between two people)," said Sifuna.
The ODM Secretary General noted that the 'Tanga Tanga' members are spreading propaganda about the amendments to attack the ODM leader.
He added that ODM party has not submitted their opinion to The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) like other parties including Ford Kenya, NGOs and Churches and therefore, it was a big surprise that Raila is the one being attacked.
