Governor Muthomi Njuki on Monday came out to dispute the results, after the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) released data for his county, vowing to petition them.

Jakoyo on Tuesday also doubted the findings that the county has a total of only 393,000 people.

He based his argument on the fact that there were 216,000 voters alone in the county 12 years ago.

"12 years ago, there were 216,000 voters in Tharaka Nithi and now their whole census is 393k people. Something is seriously unusual," he said on NTV's Am Live.

He added that the results appear wrong across the entire country and not in Tharaka Nithi alone, especially after Kiambu County was listed among arid and semi-arid areas.

According to the former National Assembly Minority Whip, it doesn't add up that the county had an 800,000 person increase in 10 years, yet members of the dominant Kikuyu community are not known to bear many children.

"The census seems to show that their numbers increased by over 800,000 people I don't think so because I know Wamatangi's (Senator Kimani Wamatangi) people, they keep one child, one wife and property and money," he added.

Kiambu has been ranked the second most populated county after Nairobi, with an upward of 2 million people.
