Strong and healthy bones are quite important as they play a great role in how we attend to our day to day activities.
A balanced diet will help your body in building strong bones from an early age and this could be maintained throughout our life.
Some of the foods that can help to keep bones healthy and strong are;
1. Milk and yoghurt
Milk is a great source of vitamins and minerals. Milk contains a good amount of calcium which gives the bones their strength while yoghurt is rich in both calcium and vitamin D.
These components are crucial as they protect the bones from rickets or osteoporosis either early in life or as one grows old.
2. Whole grains
These include brown rice, millet, whole wheat and barley among others. These foods contain increased levels of minerals which helps in cutting down on other sources of protein that could draw minerals from the bones due to their acidity.
3. Vegetables and leafy greens
These foods contain increased levels of Vitamin K, C, Iron and Calcium all linked to strong bones. Some of the examples of these vegetables are broccoli, kales, cabbage and carrots among others.
