In an interview that was shared on Nairobi News YouTube channel, the late Kadenge while sick admitted that his days were almost over and said he would like to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and also the two former Presidents of Kenya before he died.

“I am telling you there are some people in our government I would love to meet. The first one is the president of Kenya, I would love to see him. I’ll be very happy. Someone like the other former presidents, the old men you remember them. I would love to meet them (Mimi nakwambia kuna watu wengine katika serikali ningependa kuona. Kwanza President wa Kenya ningependa sana kumwona. I’ll be very happy. Mtu kama president mwingine wetu wa zamani, mzee wa zamani unamkumbuka, wale wazee ningpenda kuwaona),” Kadenge stated in an interview back in January 2017.

The celebrated footballer also admitted during the interview that he felt his days on earth were coming to an end.

“My body does not like me for now, and I would like to bid them goodbye. (Mwili wangu unaonekana hainipendi kwa sasa na ninge penda kuwapa kwaheri),” he said.

Kenyatta went to meet Kadenge a few days later making the wish of the legendary footballer to come true.

Slightly more than two years later, the former AFC striker died at a Nairobi hospital.
