Governor Joyce Laboso's husband Edwin Abonyo has come out to explain why his late wife did not reveal what she was ailing from in public.
Speaking at the Lee funeral home, Abonyo said his wife wanted it kept a secret so that it does not interfere with her work as the people's leader.
"I want us to be strong. We have to be strong for her. As it has been mentioned, she has actually suffered for a long time but we kept it under wraps. She did not want it to deter her duty and all the things that she was doing so she was very strong and we can only reciprocate that by also being stronger for her," he said.
Abonyo also requested leaders and Kenyans at large, to give the family space to mourn their beloved one.
"And please you will give family time to mourn her. I know we are all sad all of us but sometimes you give people a bit of space," he said.
Laboso passed away on Monday at the age of 58 years while under going treatment at the Nairobi Hospital, where she had been placed under full bed rest.
