Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji is among experienced politicians of Somali origin in the country.
Before joining politics, Haji was a distinguished career public servant and even held the once powerful Provincial Commissioner (PC) position.
The Garissa Senator is currently serving his second term in office.
Haji who co-chairs the Building Bridges Iniative (BBI) Commitee is yet to hint on his next political destination even as the 2022 succession politics takes shape.
As Haji continue to serve his term in office, questions are being raised on his next political destination after 2022 owing to the fact that he is among Kenya's distiguished servant leaders.
Here are likely options for Senator Haji as 2022 general election gets closer.
1. Garissa Governor seat
There is word that the distinguished Senator could bid for the Garissa Governor seat in 2022 election.
A section of county leaders and residents are said to be pushing Haji to go for the gubernatorial seat that is currently held by governor Ali Bunow Korane.
Haji has however not hinted or revealed any intention to contest the Garissa top seat in 2022 polls.
Retire from politics
The veteran politician can opt to quit active politics owing to his long and outstanding service to Kenyans and Garissa people.
This is however unlikely to be the case as the senator has a big voice in the Garissa and larger North Eastern politics.
Senate seat
Haji can also opt to seek another term in office as Senator.
