Kipchoge, the maestro racer impressed the world last weekend on Saturday being the first human being to run below 2 hours, crossed the finishing line at 2:59:40.

At his bastion in Eldoret who had turned up in thousands in the street to witness son of the soil drowning history, they expected Kipchoge ceremoniously come back home to be welcomed by the athletic fanatics.

According to John Kirwa, the local coach based in Uasin Gishu, the King of marathon ought to have met President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"How can a government allow such an important than person return after making the whole nation proud? Uhuru could have met with Kipchoge for a reward," said Kirwa.

He added that the government should organize for his thanksgiving day, for Kenyans to learn and cheer up talented people in the society.

Eric Tireito one of the local athletes decried government's poor recognition for the runners.

"Our government has little to offer to athletes, we have stalled stadiums and it is a clear indication that our government is looking down upon the county's ambassadors," said Mr Tireito.

Tireito blasted the county government of Uasin Gishu and Nandi County for not taking initiative of organizing champions home, including those won and break record in Chicago.

"Bridgit Chepkosgei broke another record and set another outstanding limit when the county was still basking in Kipchoge’s victory, we should cherish them when drawing our country in good books," said Tireito.

The residents learned of Kipchoge's home coming from pictures on the social media. Kipchoge was seen at home taking tea with friends, casually dressed something that people were bothered with his silence without standing ovations.

Its not the first time for the marathoner doing this, last year after setting another world record of 2:1:39 in Berlin, Kipchoge returned home avoiding media coverage. According to his uncle Frederick Songol, he said that Kipchoge does not like being given prominence, he likes being humble.

"It is his nature avoiding such ceremonies, he does not like a lot of praises about his success," said Songol.
