Malindi is represented in the National Assembly by ODM rebel MP Aisha Jumwa who last year defied her party and endorsed Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Raila will be attending the burial of Ngumbao Jola who was killed last week a day before Ganda Ward by-election on Thursday.

Jola was an uncle to Reuben Katana, the Member of County Assembly-elect and who vied on ODM party ticket.

The deceased lost his life after he was shot dead when Jumwa stormed a home Reuben and his agents were having a meeting to strategise on the polls.

In a post on its official Twitter handle, ODM termed Jola's death an assassination, describing him as a hero who paid the ultimate price for the party win in the election held on October 17.

"Today, Saturday October 26, we lay to rest our Shujaa Ngumbao Jola, who was felled by assassin’s bullet in Ganda Ward on October 16. Our Party Leader Raila Odinga will be there to honour the hero who paid the ultimate price for our victory in Ganda. May his memory be blessed," read the tweet.

Mzee Katana Jola, the deceased's brother, has sensationally claimed that Jumwa grabbed a gun from her bodyguard and shot his brother while attempting to fire at Katana.

"After some few minutes, Aisha Jumwa stormed the meeting, she condemned the police for not dispersing the meeting. She snatched a pistol from the bodyguard and aimed at Katana (Reuben). The bullet missed the target at hit his uncle," he claimed.

Jumwa and her bodyguard were arrested and released on Sh500,000 cash bail or Sh1million bond last week by a Mombasa court.

Police are continuing with the investigation to establish circumstances under which Jola lost his life.
