A man was on Tuesday arraigned before a Nakuru Law Court to answer to charges of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.
Edward Kariuki was being accused of allegedly sodomising the minor, an offence that he committed on October 24, this year at around 5pm in Nakuru town's Flamingo Estate.
Prosecutor Rita Rotich told the court that the accused on the material date kidnapped the minor while he was on his way home.
Nakuru Senior Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly heard that the accused forced the boy into his saloon car and drove off.
Standardmedia.co.ke reports that prosecutor Rotich further told the court that the accused took the boy to a house in Flamingo Estate where he sodomised him.
The accused person however denied the charges before the court and through defence lawyer Geoffrey Otieno filed an application to be released on bond.
Lawyer Otieno asked Magistrate Kelly to release his client on lenient bond terms pending the next case hearing.
Magistrate Kelly granted the application and ordered that the accused be released on a Sh500,000 bond.
The case will be mentioned on November 5.
