Kisii Governor James Ongwae on Friday fired warning shots to county enforcement officers fond of harassing bodaboda riders.
The second term Governor speaking during the National Government Affirmative Fund (NGAAF) initiative 'Boda Boda Tuwe compliant Na Mama Kisii County' trainees pass out said enforcement officers should not use force when discharging duties.
"Riders are not criminals and cases of enforcement officers harassing riders have been on the rise. I want to reiterate that the enforcement officers must respect riders because the county depends on tax paid by the same riders to run operations," he said.

He challenged bodaboda riders to maintain high levels of discipline and ensure they comply with the set road rules and regulations to avoid being in the wrong side of the law.
"Today's pass out will see over 1,000 bodaboda riders drawn from the nine sub-counties of Kisii County being awarded driving licenses. This is a great milestone and I urge the riders to observe road rules," he added.
Ongwae assured that his government is committed to supporting the riders were necessary since the bodaboda sector has boosted the growth of the county's economy.
