The hearing of lawyer Willy Kimani's murder case has been postponed again.
This is after lawyer Cliff Ombeta, who represents three of the four suspects accused of being behind the murder of Willy Kimani failed to present himself in court after falling ill.
Justice Jessie Lessit was compelled to adjourn the case until October 7, 2019 after the court was told that Ombeta is still feeling unwell, and cannot appear in the courtroom over the matter.
Ombeta was represented by lawyer Sam Nyaberi who told the court that he had been given more days to stay away from work until he recovers fully.
However, he didn’t disclose what was ailing the lawyer during the hearing of the case.
“I have instructions to apply for adjournment… Ombeta for the defence of the three accused persons is not able to conduct this matter. The doctor recommended for three days off. I kindly ask this court to indulge us,” Nyaberi said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
On its part, the prosecution did not object the decision of the court to adjourn the hearing of the murder case.
The prosecutor said he is satisfied with the reason behind the postponement of the hearing after seeing the letter from the doctor.
He, however, reminded the court to ensure the case proceeds as planned so that the family of the deceased can get justice at the end of the day.
