Njagua says that the bribery claims are shaming and those found to have solicited and taken money to shoot down a report on contraband sugar two weeks ago must be arrested and prosecuted.

Speaking to journalists after attending a church service at Prayers Beyond Boundaries in Nairobi on Sunday, the MP said that the integrity of Parliament is on the spot and that rogue MPs must be dealt with according to the law.

Njagua said that claims if bribery in Parliament could be true.

“The investigative agencies must do a thorough job and name those behind bribery claims,” he said.

The MP said that it is wrong and unethical for MPs to demand bribes. He said that the ongoing war against corruption and impunity will be tainted if action is not taken against MPs linked to bribery.

Meanwhile, Njagua wants the report on contraband sugar re-introduced in Parliament.

The Starehe lawmaker says that Kenyans may never know the truth on contraband sugar that is said to be laced with mercury and copper.

Two weeks ago, MPs rejected the sugar report on grounds that it had serious gaps.

There were claims that some of the MPs pocketed Sh10, 000 to reject the report.

Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi has since invited investigative agencies to probe the allegations.

This comes as claims of bribery hit the senate with claims that some senators approached city businessman Francis Mburu who linked to the Ruaraka land scandal demanding for Sh100 Million to write a favourable report.
