With the race for the vacant Migori Senatorial slot expected to take shape soon, very few candidates have since declared their ambition to fill the slot.
The few who have since come out to announce their bid include former Rongo parliamentarian Ochillo Ayacko, who lost in the county gubernatorial race in the concluded general election.
Ayacko on Tuesday withdrew the petition he had filed in challenge of Governor Okoth Obado’s reelection, following interventions from opposition leader and area political kingpin Raila Odinga, most likely to concentrate on the race.
Speaking to the Daily Nation on Wednesday, the former Sports Minister confirmed the same, expressing his readiness to compete for the Orange party ticket in the looming primaries set for October 8.
"I am ready to fight it out for the ticket. Even if it means going to the primaries, I know I have all it takes to win the ticket," he was quoted by the paper.
The seat was left vacant following the death of Senator Ben Oluoch Okello who succumbed to cancer last month.
Ochilo is expected to battle it out with among others former Suna East lawmaker John Dache Pessa and Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers Migori Secretary Samuel Orwa Jasolo.
