The most disappointing thing about campus is actually finishing it, and then facing the silent diabolic question – what next.
You had your fun, went for trips and overcame the test of CATS and exams that were often a sore thumb in your glittering life as a campus student.
One day, while you ponder and wonder about the significance of working your ass off, studying for nearly two decades and yet jobs are not forthcoming; they tell you to start businesses, and you have no clue how to start one, let alone the finance.
To avoid getting stuck in life after school, here’s what you can do;
Network
Job opportunities revolve around a network. It will be of great help to know people who are leaders in your chosen industry. They may even vouch for you in the event that a vacancy arises. While on campus, get out and engage with these people. Use your lecturers if you can. You may be surprised how helpful they can be.
Engage in a productive activity
Well, your life at campus shouldn’t just be ‘parte after parte.’ Engage in something that can be useful to you or your career once you complete campus. The campus life is generally a time to experiment. Fail forward. It is the only time when you still can call your parents for the financial back. And that won’t last beyond campus.
Think about life outside campus
The common mistake many students make on campus is failing to see life beyond campus. Four years down the line you will find people still celebrating the freedom found on campus. And then it is over quickly, leaving you with one hell of a hangover. No matter what, life goes on.
