In an interview with K24, Gait said that he was in real pain when he left for treatment in India. He also said that the journey to the foreign nation had made him spiritually strong.

“My illness was not a publicity stunt but a spiritual journey for me,” he said.

He also revealed that his illness started as a throat irritation little he know that the condition was bound to worsen. He divulged that the condition became worse when he sought medical treatment before he thought of a better solution towards the same.

“My illness began as throat irritation. I took over-the-counter medication but it only got worse and that's when I visited an ENT doctor,” he said.

At some point, he noted that he was scared to undergo surgery. He admitted that he felt scared when the doctors said that it was the only way he was going to restore his health after a long battle with the diseases.

“At the Hospital, the doctor recommended surgery, something that I was not comfortable with,” he said.

The singer has hinted at retiring from music after the trip to India.
