A Prison warden attached to Bomet GK prison was arrested over allegations of causing the death of his lover at Kamukunji Estate in Bomet.
The two are said to have engaged in a quarrel before the incident occurred.
According to Bomet Central Sub County Police Boss Musa Imamai Omar, the victim who was 23 years years old was hit with a blunt object on the head by the 28-year-old prison warden.
“Our officers rushed to the scene after a distress call only to find the 23-year-old woman in a coma. She was rushed to Longisa Referral Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival,” he said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
According to doctors at Longisa Referral Hospital, the young lady died due to excessive bleeding.
The prison warden was arrested and is currently being held at Bomet Police Station waiting to be arraigned in court.
This is not the first case of a crime of passion that has been reported in the area.
Four months ago, a 19-year-old boy was killed after quarrelling his girlfriend in Bomet County.
The incident occurred at Kapkwen trading centre on May 5, 2019 where the suspect was arrested after stabbing her lover on the neck.
The young man passed away while being taken to the Longisa County Referral Hospital.
