On Saturday, Alai said that the fact that Sarah Wairimu is accused of killing her husband, Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen, it should not be seen as women from this particular communities are murderers.

"Suspect Sarah Wairimu is not representative of all Kikuyu ladies. People must not blame a whole community for the crimes of an individual," wrote Alai on his Facebook page.

"I have Kikuyu relatives too and we can’t all be looking at them like greedy murderers. Even my community has murderers," he added.

Cohen went missing 40 days ago only to be found dead in a septic tank in his home. Detectives led by DCI  boss George Kinoti found the body wrapped in several layers of clothes and was reportedly in "bad condition".

His wife Wairimu is a chief suspect in his murder and is still in police custody.

The court on Thursday ordered Wairimu to undergo mental check-up over the murder of her husband.

Her lawyer Philip Murgor had opposed her detention.
