Political rivalry has taken the centre stage in Kisumu County as clans clash over the county Public Service Board nominations.
Area Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has since nominated Charles Karan Babu to head the board and Stephen Orot, Edward Kochung', Jane Oyare and Nahashon Otieno as members.
However, this has led to a clash between the Kano and Nyakatch clans, with the Nyakatch complaining about the nomination of Karan who hails from Nyando in Kano.
Nyakatch elders and professional groups led by former area MP Peter Odoyo have opposed the move, claiming that his people want him to fill the slot.
But former Nyando MP Otieno said that Karan is equally qualified and was nominated through the right procedure, adding that he was picked because of his good reputation.
"These are positions that people get through merit. People applied and did interviews and it happened that Karan managed to be the best,” he told the Friday Standard.
The setting for the slots will be conducted on April 2 and 3, at a time when Odoyo seem to have taken the fight to the Governor's doorstep, accusing him of poor leadership.
He added that the people of Nyakatch are unhappy with the county boss' leadership.
