Muthama now wants the lawmakers investigated and stern action taken against those found culpable of the vice.

He says the MPs are letting their electorates down if indeed the allegations that they are demanding and taking bribes are true.

Muthama now wants the MPs linked to bribery not to be spared in the ongoing war against corruption.

He said the bribery allegations are serious, hence the Director of Public Prosecutions should go for the culprits.

“It is so shameful that some MPs are demanding and taking bribes just to write favorable reports. The relevant agencies should immediately launch a probe against them,” Muthama said as quoted by a local daily.

Muthama said some MPs are not serving the interests of Kenyans.

“They must be brought to book and tell Kenyans on whose interests they are working for,” Muthama added.

He asked the speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi to put his House in order by taming rogue lawmakers.

Some MPs are on the spot over allegations that they accepted bribes to shoot down a report on contraband sugar that was tabled in Parliament last Thursday.

There are claims that some of the lawmakers lined-up to pocket Sh10, 000 bribes to oppose the report.

Pressure is now mounting on investigative agencies to launch a probe into the matter.

On Sunday,   Muturi confirmed that he has invited relevant agencies to probe the bribery claims at Parliament.
