In short messages (SMS) sent to referees who officiated the various matches, Safaricom on Monday 27 May, regretted the delays in effecting the payments, noting that all match officials will receive their dues in the course of the week.

"This is to inform you payments for match officials who participated in the Chapa Dimba soccer will be effected at the course of this week. We regret the delay and any inconvenience caused. Kindly be patient as we sort out the issue" reads a message sent to Abdinoor Hussein, one of the match officials for Fafi sub-county in Garissa who had spoken to Hivisasa earlier.

Barely a week ago, Hivisasa highlighted the story where match officials from Fafi threatened to rally all local football teams which took part in the Chapa Dimba competitions to protest the delays.

Amid the outcry, top regional officials in Chapa Dimba were reported to have accompanied the winning teams to Spain for their month-long LaLiga tour.

The referees now hold up to their expectations that their dues will have been credited to their respective bank accounts this week as promised by the telco giant.
