When he came to power on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket in 2017, residents of Alego Usonga expected a lot from their new lawmaker Samuel Atandi.
However, barely two tears down the line, the latter's name is stained with controversy, with his alleged wrongs outweighing his goods and achievements.
Easily identifiable courtesy of his thick beard and a clean-shaven head, Atandi has brought himself out as a violent man who is being accused of many engagements in fights.
In August last year, he shot into limelight when he allegedly invited Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa to a fist fight at the Kisumu International Airport as reported by Nation in a news piece.
In December last year, he was again accused of dispatching goons to assault a Siaya Member of County Assembly (MCA) Winnie Otieno, before allegedly storming the Siaya Education offices and slapping an officer in early this month.
On Saturday, his supporters reportedly clashed with those of his rival in Siaya County, in what is now spoiling the name of opposition leader and ODM chief Raila Odinga.
Let it be remembered that Raila endorsed him before his election, just as he campaigned for all ODM parliamentary and gubernatorial candidates across the nation.
However, the former Premier is likely to soon begin cursing his decision to even show up on behalf of the latter.
He is making Raila appear like a man who gave his people the wrong man who spends his time fighting instead of developing his region.
Consequently, Raila is very unlikely to endorse Atandi come 2022.
