The two factions have been locked in a verbal war lately, with Ruto implicating opposition leader Raila Odinga in an alleged scheme to paint him as a corrupt leader.

Ruto has accused Raila of using the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to frustrate him.

However, speaking in Ugenya on Sunday, Ayacko accused the DP of obstructing justice through his remarks, and now wants criminal charges pressed against him for obstruction of justice.

Last week, Ruto claimed that the DCI has overstepped its mandate and should leave the fight against graft to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC).

"Anyone who obstructs justice is committing a criminal offence. There is a need to move with haste and deal with Ruto for threatening institutions tasked with fighting graft," the lawmaker was quoted by the Standard.

He was speaking during a political rally in Ralak, where he joined other Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in campaigning for the party candidate for the vacant Ugenya parliamentary seat Chris Karan.

This comes at a time when ODM MPs led by Siaya Senator James Orengo have threatened to sponsor an impeachment motion against the DP.

Orengo who also attended the function said that the impeachment will not leave any vacuum as President Uhuru can always pick another choice for his deputy.

After his removal, the President is allowed to appoint a new one with the approval of the National Assembly," Orengo stated.
