Political commentator and economist Mohamed Wehilye has said Kenyans should not regard any politician affiliated to the Jubilee Party.
He accused the ruling party of mismanaging the economy by over borrowing, which he said has resulted to so many citizens being condemned to abject poverty.
Wehliye said in the next general election and future polls, Kenyans should not dare elect anyone who is in the governing party, whatever the position they will be looking for.
"Whether it is for the seat of President or PM, Governor, Senator, MP or even for the head of a cattle dip committee, Kenyans should never consider anyone associated with the Jubilee Party. Never has a party in Kenya used so much borrowed resources to impoverish so many Kenyans," he tweeted on Tuesday night.
"The Jubilee name giving Kenyans a nightmare. I have seen people who have lost wealth passed on from generations. It stinks," added the economist and a columnist.
Similar sentiments were echoed by political activist Ndung'u Wainaina who accused Jubilee administration, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, of breaking the country and crippling the economy.
"In the last 10 years, Kenya's political leadership has devalued country. It made Kenyans' lives poorer and harder. Country ends decade in lowest moment. Jubilee Government has broken the country, hammered its economy and ripped its social fabric to shreds. Country revival vital," Wainaina said.
In his New Year message, Uhuru asked Kenyans not to lose hope exuding confidence that 2020 will be a great year for all.
"I have no doubt that we have it within us to make 2020 the most successful year in our Nation’ s history. I urge every Kenyan to commit to making 2020 a great year at the individual, community, county and national levels," the President said.
