Nominated MP Maina Kamanda has officially joined the campaign for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate in the Kibra parliamentary race Imran Okoth.
Speaking at Capitol Hill Square while flanked by veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga and other ODM leaders, Kamanda lashed out at those keen on disrupting the peace brought about by the handshake.
He said there was a clique of people who were out to roll back the progress and peace that Kenyans were enjoying thanks to the handshake.
"There so many other Members of Parliament who want to come and support him just for one reason; we have enjoyed peace in this country and we don't want that peace to be thrown out by a few people who do not want to see that we have achieved so much even the kind of development we are getting in this country now," said the former Starehe MP.
He said that though Jubilee has fronted football star McDonald Mariga to be it's candidate in the race, he will support Imran.
Kamanda's remark comes just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta endorsed Mariga for the seat, and vowed to fully back him.
The by-election is scheduled for November,7, and will see Imran clash against Mariga, ANC's Eliud Owalo, among other interested candidates.
Kibra constituency has long been an ODM turf having been represented by Odinga in Parliament for many years.
