Last week, a fierce Migori Governor Okoth Obado indirectly accused Raila Odinga of orchastrating his predicaments following his latest arrest over possession of illegal firearms.
And his brother, Daudi Okoth, fired shots to Raila, accusing him of being 'too afraid' of losing his Luo Nyanza grip.
"We know some people who thinks that he's a god. He is harassing the governor having realised that his grip is fading away.
"Does he want to tell us Obado is the most corrupt governor in Kenya! We will not sit back. We shall stand for the truth."
But Raila's team has dismissed the latest development as 'hot air', asking Mr Obado to carry his own cross.
However, Mr Odinga's dominance in Luo Nyanza dates back to 1994 after the death of his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. After that, he was forced out of Ford Kenya to NDP where he established his grip.
Kisumu Governor Peter Nyong'o and Siaya Senator James Orengo have tested his ruthlessness in politics, forcing them to change tune and back him.
In 2002, after realising that he could not do without Raila, Nyong'o swiftly joined LDP while Orengo, who defiantly remained in SDP, was thrown to political cold until he joined ODM in 2007.
Former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno, who at one time was KANUs pointsman from Nyanza, also tried in vain to bring Raila Odinga down. But after losing in 2002, Otieno would later join ODM in 2007 for survival.
Minister without portfolio Raphael Tuju has also been a victim of Raila 'Mania' in Nyanza. He lost his Rarieda seat in 2007 when he tried to go against him.
Others who have tried unsuccessfully to upstage Raila include former Kanu chairman Okiki Amayo and powerful PS Hezekiah Ochuka who lost their bid unceremoniously.
